Encounter ethnological, natural, historical and traditional life collections of Uganda’s 56 tribes. Proceed to Bahai temple also known as Mashriq I’Adhkar a spiritual gathering place and one of the only 9 temples worldwide. On your way to Kasubi tombs a UNESCO world heritage site drive via Makerere University the oldest institution of higher learning in Uganda. Kasubi tombs is the official burial ground of Buganda’s royal family. (Four kings were buried here). From kasubi proceed to st paul’s cathedral (Namirembe) and st Mary’s cathedral (Rubaga) situated on mengo and Rubaga hill respectively. Namirembe cathedral is the provincial cathedral of the Anglican church of Uganda whereas Rubaga is the parent cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church. Both hills have a history with colonization which you will find out on visiting the sites. Along the way you could grab the famous Rolex for a snack or have decent lunch.
Proceed to Lubiri palace via the royal mile (kabaka anjagala meaning King loves me) a road stretching from kabaka’s palace to bulange the parliament of Buganda. Along the road are sculptures of different totems representing the 52 clans of Buganda Kingdom. At lubiri is a uniquely designed palace, Amin’s torture chambers constructed by the Israelites as an armory but later acted as killing ground where around 20000 people lost their lives. Until today one of Amin’s strong weapons still stands at the palace. After this peace of sorrowful tale Continue to Gaddaffi moseque situated at old Kampala hill where civilization started. Hike to the tower and have a different view of the whole city and the hills. If it’s a Friday do some shopping in the craft market or go to craft village for souvenir shopping.
